IMC-CC Daylong Retreat – July 26, 2025

Dear Friends, We’re happy to share that registration is now open for our upcoming July 26 daylong retreat with teacher Tara Mulay.

Retreat Theme /Topic:

Building a Raft to Carry Us Over: Refining Our Mindfulness Practice

The Buddha, fully awake and aware of the first noble truth of suffering, compared the dharma to a raft that can carry us over turbulent waters to the other shore. As we navigate these waters, mindfulness—caring, accepting awareness of our present moment experience—is like the oar we use to keep us heading toward awakening. The floor of the raft itself consists of other supportive qualities of mind, wise action, and wise view.

During this daylong retreat, we’ll explore qualities of attention that refine our mindfulness practice and provide the ground for insight into the truth of the way things are. Inclining our minds toward a deeply restful state allows attention to open us to joy and calm. A clear perception of moment-to-moment experience unclouds our attention. Letting go of a mistaken sense of ownership of passing experience deepens our understanding of the truth. These capacities of mind are available to all of us, and they are the foundations for cultivating a wise, compassionate response to life.
